Interview with "Prem Baba"
'Prem Baba' is the alias for a villager from Lapas who has made ongoing selections for us from the fields around the village and from the plants surrounding his house. He agreed to do an interview…

Three months alone through Kullu, Parvati and Malana, the first Himachal trip.
Seed from this expedition went out in the Parvati Valley drop, January 2023.
No contact or fixer had been arranged in the valleys. She was staying in Paharganj, by the main railway station, and on 30 August bought the ticket north there and took the train that afternoon.
Reached by train from Delhi after dark, with a night at Daria, a village by the station. The next morning feral plants near the bus station were photographed before the bus on to Manali.

A good few weeks packing the seed for the flight to France on 11 December.
An authored route of 25 stops, numbered below in order. A solid line is a recorded leg between two stops, a dashed line is reconstructed and approximate, and no line means the route between two stops is not established.
The first frames are from the bus station at Chandigarh, a day out of Delhi on the way up to the Kullu valley. Nothing was arranged in advance. Éloïse flew in alone, with no contacts in the valley and no fixer.
The walk up from Naggar to Rumsu, the village where the trail to the Chanderkhani pass begins. The pass had drawn Éloïse here. It is the old route over the ridge to Malana from before the road, and she had heard that only the real heads walked it. Getting here changed the plan: she did not want to cross alone. She stayed low instead, working outward from Rumsu.
