Partnership
Working with us
Everything we hold came through somebody else first, a household that kept the line going or a collector who got there before us. This is how that works from our end.
How it actually works
There is no application form, no tiers and no standard terms. Everything we have going with anyone started as a conversation and stayed one until there was something worth writing down. What we can do depends on what you are proposing. Ask.
Two informal partnerships came apart in 2023, both of them handshake deals with nothing on paper. It is why a conversation with us reaches the dull practical questions early. Nobody here is doing this on a handshake again.
Growers and seed keepers
We come to you, you name the price and what you tell us goes on the record: the field, the season, the harvest year, the elevation and your name if you want it there. Plenty of people would rather it was not, and that field stays empty. Positions publish exactly as we recorded them and nothing gets moved or rounded off on our side. Know that before you walk us out to a field.
The community page has more on how the wider network of people keeping old lines going is meant to work.
The seed commons, moving material between growers who will look after it, is a plan and not a thing yet. It sits with the French association, which is still being registered, so there is nothing to join today.
Seedbanks and preservation projects
Part of what we hold predates our own fieldwork and came through collaborators, mostly in Thailand. It is recorded that way. We do not put our name on somebody else's collecting and we expect the same back.
Between projects the record is usually more use than the seed. Ours is public, so an accession number resolves to an article anyone can read and a collection holding our material can show where it came from without writing to us for a letter. If you are sitting on old material with a real provenance behind it and nowhere to put the documentation, write.
Researchers
The register is built the way a genebank builds one. An accession is a single collection event with a position, an elevation, a harvest year, a collection date and a collector against it, and it never gets blended with the next season's seed from the same village. Older material that came through collaborators is thinner and shows it. Coordinates publish as they were taken.
The records are what we can hand over today, along with answers about how they were made. Material is harder. Seed crosses phytosanitary rules leaving one country and entering another, and the two legal structures behind all of this are still being set up, so ask early rather than planning around a yes.
landrace.wiki
The accession records sit on landrace.wiki, an independent encyclopaedia of landrace cannabis that runs as its own project and covers far more than our catalogue. Anyone can edit it, including anyone who thinks we have a record wrong. That is the point of putting them there rather than only on a shop page.
Regional history, growing areas, botany, old field notes, photographs sitting in a drawer. All of it is more use there than in a folder, and it does not need us to be involved. Corrections to our own records still come to us, since those are ours to fix.
